Louisville, Ky.\u00a0<\/strong>(December 7, 2022) \u2013 Last night, Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) released its 2023 State Legislative Agenda during the culmination of its 2022 Capitol Connection event series, presented by Norton Healthcare. In addition to discussing the business community\u2019s top priorities for the upcoming legislative session, GLI also celebrated its 2022 Most Valuable Policymakers (MVPs) and hosted a panel discussion with Senate President Robert Stivers and Speaker of the House David Osborne, which was moderated by KET\u2019s Renee Shaw.<\/p>\n

Each year, GLI produces a local, state, and federal agenda, outlining its top priorities at each level of government. The 2023 state legislative agenda includes long-term priorities to elevate the local community that GLI has continued to support, as well as policies to support local communities dealing with an uncertain global economy and record high inflation.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur mission is to grow the regional economy by bringing in more investment, high-paying jobs, and quality talent to our region. Pursuing pro-business policies is critical to that mission,\u201d said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. \u201cIt has been a challenging few years for our community, but we are in a strong economic position to accelerate growth and capitalize on policy wins from 2022, like statewide tax reform. Responding to the short-term needs of the business community will be a top priority in 2023, while we also pursue long-term priorities to help Greater Louisville compete with peer markets.\u201d<\/p>\n

GLI\u2019s 2023 priorities focus on key areas like multiple mechanisms to further criminal justice reform, tax changes that would benefit Kentucky small businesses, specific solutions to workforce issues such as child care and tackling the benefits cliff, and building on state tax reform with an amendment to the Constitution to create more local tax flexibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cGLI\u2019s state legislative agenda is a great representation of collaboration between GLI\u2019s investors, community partners, and stakeholders to identify top issues in our community and solutions for each,\u201d said Tim Hagerty, chair of GLI\u2019s Public Policy Council and member at Frost Brown Todd. \u201cGLI has seen a number of high-profile wins over the last several years that will benefit our region for years to come and I am certain we will see even more in the new year.\u201d<\/p>\n
