Vice president of government affairs and communications, Shelby Williams Somervell, joined the bill sponsor and other supporters to testify in support of the bill.<\/p>\n<p>President and CEO, Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, issued the following statement following the bill&#8217;s passage:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cGLI applauds the House Elections, Constitutional Amendments, and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee for passing House Bill 475, which will create a Constitutional Amendment to allow the General Assembly to rethink and recreate local taxation in the commonwealth. To maximize our economy\u2019s competitive advantage, Greater Louisville must modernize our outdated tax structures so we can reinvest in our region. Combined with comprehensive state tax reform, this legislation has the potential to accelerate our region\u2019s economic growth, promote business development, and help us better compete with our peer markets.
